From Engineers to Online Entrepreneurs

Reynders Brothers 1Welcome to the world of the Deon and Johan, a.k.a. the Reynders Brothers. We actually coined this name as kids when we showed our Cropper pigeons at exhibitions. We are best friends and we operate as a formidable team, despite the fact that we live on different continents. The Internet has really made the world a small place.

We don’t believe in doing the ordinary. We aim at pursuing ‘different’ lifestyles because it resonates with us.

Reynders Brothers 2Between the two of us we share three Engineering degrees and two MBAs, as well as over 120 years life experience, 75 years engineering experience, of which 30 years were in managerial roles. As young Engineering graduates we also performed compulsory military service (fortunately in a peaceful capacity) at the South African Army Gymnasium in Heidelberg, both with the rank of full Lieutenant.

We share a love of flying and sailing. Both of us have Private Pilot’s licenses and yacht skipper tickets, albeit we are not qualified for offshore sailing (yet). That needs to happen eventually, once we manage to finish Vision, our 38’ Horstmann Tristar trimaran.  We are planning to fly around the globe. Once that’s been accomplished we might take Vision around as well!

We love traveling. Over the years we have collectively traveled, for business and/or for pleasure, through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Mauritius, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Trinidad, Tobago, the USA, Canada, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, India, Nepal, China, Hong Kong, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia (Bali, Java, Lombok and Sumatra), Reynders Brothers 5Malaysia, Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Quatar. And there’s still a lot more on our ‘to go’ list.

Both of us are entrepreneurs at heart and, at this stage in our lives, we consider ourselves unemployable ;-). In other words, we no longer fit into a corporate environment. Why would we do that if we can be our own bosses, work at home (or from a hotel room, or from a yacht in the Med) on our terms, at hours that suit us, with no commuting and dressed in shorts and T-shirts?
